From the time I read about Pethols and saw the TV clip on 23 Scrub Road, I knew that was the spot for my Staffie “Barney” and I to escape from the Victorian cold and travel north.   We were not disappointed.   The house was all and more than had been depicted in the film.   There was nothing we required that was not available both inside and outside the house….it was delightful.   Our very early morning walk down the hill to the beach was the most anticipated part of the day both to meet the  local surfers and have a run , whilst the “dog friendly” area down past the Caravan Park provided hours of playing with numbers of new “best friends” and gave his entourage a lot of amusement.   After all, it was primarily a holiday for me and my dog and, as you can see by the photo, he certainly was not disappointed.   Added to which he ‘discovered’ pelicans!  My three companions voted the house was great, the views from the balcony first class and, whilst we did not see any whales during our stay – August 17-31st, we had plenty of porpoise to admire.   We were all certainly much fitter when we left Scrub Road than on our arrival!   And Barney?   Well he hasn’t settled down yet and wants to return.   I think he’s become a ‘professional tourist’!    We would all love to return at any time of the year.
