  • Walking on the Sunshine Coast Coolum Beach

If you like walking this one’s for you. When you stay at Petfriendly Holiday Houses Coolum Beach there are some fantastic walks you can take with all the family and your dog. The Sunshine Coast is magnificent. At Stumers Creek you can walk north and between entry point numbers 67 and 72 your dog can walk leash free. So from Stumer’s walk north until you get to Peregian Beach. Dependent on your speed it might take fifty minutes. We grab a coffee at one of the excellent cafes. Grab a breakfast or lunch too if the fancy takes you. Normally we choose the Baked Poetry Cafe. Take your time, relax, enjoy. Then walk back along one of the Sunshine Coast best beaches. It’s therapeutic, it’s healthy, and it’s fun. Your dog will thank you too. Remember to take some water – for you and your dog. There are plenty  of dog watering bowls at Peregian  Beach too. We also grab a swim along the way. Our dog, Tess, loves the water too. So keeping her wet helps to keep her cool. Here’s a shot Richard took last weekend. Enjoy and check out Petfriendly Holiday Houses at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Happy holidays, Maureen.

Give your dog a treat and let them have fun at Stumers Creek. It’s a leash-free dog friendly beach at Coolum. The family will have fun too. Social encounters of the dog kind are guaranteed. It’s a safe place for the kids to play, to fish, play ball, have a picnic, and relax.

    Coolum Beach: First Bay

Summer is almost here. First Bay sits serenely at the bottom of our road. Whale Watching Season is Here

It’s whale watching season. Humpback whales begin their southern migration in September and October. Check them out from our Coolum Beach Pet Friendly Holiday houses. Or perhaps stroll to Point Perry two hundred metres down the street or walk to the new whale watching platform at Second Bay. Lookout for tell-tale spouts – tail slapping – and full body breaches. We supply binoculars in both houses. Good luck and enjoy.

    ‘View was amazing’

BOUTIQUE TREE HOUSE: View was amazing and the deck was lovely to lounge out on. Louvres and air-conditioning made the place cool and refreshing when it was super muggy. Photos didn’t do justice to both the place and the view, perfect for a romantic getaway. Maureen was also helpful and we didn’t have any issues the entire week 🙂 Elliot Stevens Dec 2018

Seaplane trip over the Sunshine Coast

Wow! What a trip. A seaplane ride from the Maroochy River over the Sunshine Coast was an awesome adventure to view our beautiful beaches from around 450 metres.  A magical experience. Take-off and landing are from the Maroochy River. We did this trip with the doors off to add spice to the adventure. A big thank you to Shawn our pilot from Paradise Seaplanes.

We had a wonderfully relaxing break at Maureen and Richard’s accommodation! Sitting on the balcony enjoying the view with wine and nibbles; enjoying watching the rain come in over the Pacific Ocean making everything fresh again; taking the furred ones for a play at Stumers Creek; relaxing in the spa in the evening listening to the crickets; and simply falling asleep with the sea breezes through the windows. Absolutely perfect. Darren and Vicki McNabb 09/10/2017

    Sunset  in Paradise

Maureen and I often stroll with our dog Tess from Coolum Beach to Peregian Beach. It’s a stunning walk with few people. We break the walk with coffee at Peregian and then return. Allow two hours for this walk. I always take my camera and Sunday evening presented a stunning sunset.  Coolum Beach is our slice of paradise. Come and enjoy it with your family AND your dog.

A huge thank you to Richard and Maureen

A huge thank you to Richard and Maureen. We have had the best weeks holiday in Coolum. The house is fantastic with the most spectacular views. The kids used the boogie boards everyday and the dogs just loved the km’s of off-leash beach walks. We will be recommending your beautiful home to family and friends and we will be back for another holiday. Scott, Renee, Kai, Taj, Kiava and fur babies Dusty and Milo.

Coolum Beach Point Lookout is simply the best pet friendly holiday house to visit on the Sunshine Coast

My local furry buddies tell me that Coolum Beach Point Lookout is simply the best pet friendly holiday house to visit on the Sunshine Coast. Socialising, playing, making friends, fetching ball and just generally sniffing around – Yeah, that’s what we dogs like. So when we’re on holiday at Point Lookout where do mum and dad take us for walks? Well with my lead on you can take me almost anywhere but be sure to take my pooh bag because I never know when I might need to go.  But I heard on the dogvine that Stumer’s Creek is the place to hang out. Yes sir, I heard dogs of all kinds just have a ball here. Pardon the pun. No leash. We can just run, splash and play with friends without that annoying leash. And we can swim in the creek or the ocean. It’s great for kids here too. It takes 4 minutes by car and 25 minutes to walk. So where is Stumers Creek?  Just go down Scrub Road towards the ocean then turn left and head north for just over 2kms then turn right into Stumers Creek road. Head down toward the bottom of the road and there’s the creek and the ocean. There’s showers and washing facilities for me. And showers and toilets for mum and dad.  From there the world is my oyster. I can roam free for 1 km north between beach accesses 67 to 72. Awesome fun.

An alternate walk is to take me to Point Arkwright. You’ll need my leash for this walk but I heard it’s really beautiful. So you walk me down to the bottom of Scrub Road , cross the road and turn right. Walk south up the hill, past beautiful First Bay. As you continue up the hill you’ll pass a car park on the left. Keep walking until you come to a second car park. On the south side of the car park you’ll see a track that heads down some stairs onto a path that leads through the woods. Keep walking along the track for about 15 to 20 minutes until you come to a wide clearing and picnic facilities. You’ll know when you reached this spot because you’ll find another car park and the most beautiful views from the Point. Keep a lookout because along the way you might spot ospreys and kites, as well as turtles and in season, whales.  This walk will take you about 1 hour return trip. And there’s water for me to drink along the way.

Remember if you need to wash me down when we get home to Point Lookout there’s an outside tap and hose to the left of the front door.

So what are we waiting for? My tail is wagging. Grab my lead and let’s go!

Thank you so much for having us Maureen and Richard

10 Great Reasons to Take Your Dog With You On the Next Family Holiday…

Going on a vacation? A family holiday? Well sometimes it’s just too difficult to leave your dog behind. So take your best friend with you. Here’s why:

    1. Family is Family – right? So family holidays should involve the whole family. That includes your dog.
    2. Personal Trainer: Your dog is a natural exercise motivator. Take your dog on holiday and you’ll be more likely to walk further, run more often and play more actively. That has to be good for you and your family’s well-being and good health.
    3. Security Manager: While your dog may lick an intruder to death most likely you’ll get an early warning indicator to any welcome and unwelcome guests.
    4. Social Network Manager: Dogs are the world’s best social ice-breaker (after babies). Please bring both. Take them anywhere and you’ll be sure to strike up conversations, acquaintances and friendships. Your dog will always ‘take the lead’.
    5. Scrap Demolisher: Dog and dad may go hand in hand or maybe paw in paw in ensuring that all the meal scraps are eaten so nothing is left to waste.
    6. Fun Manager: Ball, throw and fetch, hide and seek – both dog and dad will always be there to create that extra element of fun.
    7. Agony Aunt/Uncle: You can discuss any crisis with your dog and they’ll most likely wag a tail at anything you say. They give support and always agree.
    8. Photography Model: Your dog is always happy to oblige a photo shoot. Just throw in a couple of treats here and there to maintain motivation. And the holiday snaps shared back home will be all the more delightful
    9. Welcome Home Enthusiast: A return to your dog, even after an hour or two away, will always generate a warm and happy welcome.
    10. De-Stresser and Less worry: Taking your furry family member on holiday with you is great contributor to a relaxing break. No need to worry about your dog in kennels or in care.

Take a holiday. Bring your dog. Come and stay in our beautiful Sunshine Coast Dog Friendly Holiday House on your next holiday or call Maureen on 0404 044866 for more details.

Such a wonderful place to stay at. We were so lucky to be able to take both our cat and dog away on holiday with us. Our dog loved walking along the beach every morning. Pet friendly, Coolum holiday rental

10/01/2015 Our extended family recently spent a week at this pet friendly home, 6 adults and two poodle kids.
Over the past 15 years or so we have experienced a lot of holiday rentals in the Sunshine Coast, interstate and overseas. The most important things to tick are: things must work, good maintenance, cleanliness, convenience and hosts who don’t treat you as just a cash cow.
23 Scrub Road does tick all these boxes. The home was clean the appliances were quality brands, the home was well maintained and the view was superb. (a Facebook Photo drew an envious comment from an Italian friend “but Rod where are you? Heaven on a stick was the response)
Poodle kids especially appreciated the aircon and the main bathroom was big enough to party in.
Coolum was in an easy 10 minute walk and the dragons kept us amused.

    Rod and Carolyn Robinson, Brisvegas.

We’ll come back with our new addition

The first comments from 2015 and they are great. Trish, Chuck, Carla and Stephen (and of course Roydey) ha had a very enjoyable (relaxing most importantly week. We love Coolum and would like to think that we could come back (with our new addition!!). The home has everything one needs and the efficient service we were given was great. We even loved the rain ! Thank you from us all.

    23 Scrub Road Coolum

27/12/2014 We have just had a week of very relaxed time in Coolum. We had to choose a pet friendly accommodation because of Roydey, our Labrottie. The home had everything we needed and the location is great. The dog friendly beach was so close, as were some great walks.
Beautiful view from our front deck, looking out to sea.
Hosts, Maureen and Richard were more than obliging to be there for us, if needed.
I am sorry that we did not take a photo of our ‘pooch’ enjoying his holiday either.

We had a fantastic stay in your beautiful home. Love the Asian influences and touches throughout. My only regret was that our 3 dogs had to stay behind in Singapore …. they would have absolutely loved it. It was a real treat being able to walk to a nice restaurant and shops with the amazing coastline always in full view. A truly relaxing week. Thank You

The perfect getaway. The house was perfect in its functionality and location. The elevated views the ocean were amazing. No need for the television. The ability to have a truly relaxing holiday as a family was made easier with all the house had the offer,, seriously one of our best holidays.

    Wonderful Blissful Place

brightdogs1smallWe have 2 small dogs and they are the loves of our lives. Their safety and well being is imperative to us. It is hard to find safe holiday houses suitable for dogs. This ticked all the boxes. The dogs are allowed in the living areas, the yard is completely safe with little bamboo gates that you can use if you want to block off some of the yard. The side fences are brilliant, no chance of escape. They even have a gate for the top of the stairs and a door to stop access to the bedrooms. For the humans there is a spectacular view, every thing you could want – air conditioning, dishwasher, coffee maker, comfortable main bed, closeness to lots of restaurants and close to the beaches. There are just the 2 of us but there is room for a whole family or room for the parents or another couple downstairs in their own self contained area. Far enough away from the main road so you have the access to the restaurants but no noise from the road. The spa was brilliant, we felt so relaxed after using it. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay.

    BIG DOGS ALLOWED!

I stumbled across your website after a very lengthy and fruitless search for pet-friendly accommodation WITHOUT restrictions on the size of dog you can bring. Just when you think you’d found something suitable the fine print says “suitable for small and medium sized dogs – larger dogs subject to approval”. Too many times I came across this problem until I discovered your very comprehensive and user-friendly website which listed no such restrictions and seemed inviting enough for me to make a call and verify the details.
Maureen had no hesitation in telling us our Saint Bernard (and our 19 year old cat) were more than welcome to stay (we chose Santa Monica because of the pool and yard).
The house was well-equipped and many items brought from home were left unpacked because they simply weren’t needed.
This was out first ever stay in Coolum but I can assure you it won’t be the last. Thanks, Maureen!

Fantastic can’t wait to go back!

imageMissing the pool already! Had a fantastic week at Santa Monica – it has everything we needed and felt like home from home – but with lots of added extras! The doggies were comfy there too and the beaches are amazing, and only a few mins walk away, as well as great restaurants and shops. Having the back courtyard is a bonus and the security is great. So many great things to say – we will definately book again.

    POINT LOOKOUT

From the time I read about Pethols and saw the TV clip on 23 Scrub Road, I knew that was the spot for my Staffie “Barney” and I to escape from the Victorian cold and travel north.   We were not disappointed.   The house was all and more than had been depicted in the film.   There was nothing we required that was not available both inside and outside the house….it was delightful.   Our very early morning walk down the hill to the beach was the most anticipated part of the day both to meet the  local surfers and have a run , whilst the “dog friendly” area down past the Caravan Park provided hours of playing with numbers of new “best friends” and gave his entourage a lot of amusement.   After all, it was primarily a holiday for me and my dog and, as you can see by the photo, he certainly was not disappointed.   Added to which he ‘discovered’ pelicans!  My three companions voted the house was great, the views from the balcony first class and, whilst we did not see any whales during our stay – August 17-31st, we had plenty of porpoise to admire.   We were all certainly much fitter when we left Scrub Road than on our arrival!   And Barney?   Well he hasn’t settled down yet and wants to return.   I think he’s become a ‘professional tourist’!    We would all love to return at any time of the year.

    Point Lookout Coolum

It was perrfect holiday for everyone . The house was beautiful with amazing views of the sea where we watched the whales passing by from the deck, ever day. The secluded out door spa was wonderful for relaxing for the adults and fun for the kids.
Jake our border collie loved his walks to the beach chasing the waves in the off leash section and playing with other dogs at dog friendly Stumers Creek. Kathryn Girling.Brisbane 28/09/2013

    Fantastic holiday at Point Lookout!

We had 8 people staying at Point Lookout including 4 from the UK! We (locals) thoroughly enjoyed the break away from Brisbane. Waking up to that view every morning was devine. Our international visitors thought it was amazing. Took every opportunity to head down to the beach which was a short run, walk or drive away!
The house was immaculate with everything you needed. The spa was fantastic also!

    Santa Monica

I had a lovely stay at Santa Monica with my dogs. The yard was all very secure and I felt comfortable letting then run free. They loved exploring the big front garden and the back garden also. It was only a short walk to the waterfront and we walked along the beach or along the boardwalk every day. They loved it. The house is very comfortable with plenty of room to move and the pool is lovely. All in all it was a very enjoyable and relaxing week and I was so glad to be able to take the dogs away with me rather than put them in a boarding kennel. 09/03/2013 Anne Kirby. Brisbane.

    Point Lookout House

We have just spent a week at this lovely house in Coolum Beach. It is our second time at the house and we have found it a great place to enjoy a pet friendly holiday. The house is perfectly located with wonderful views all the way to Noosa and it is within easy walking distance to the shops at Coolum and only a short drive away from the best dog friendly beach we have found at the mouth of Stumer’s creek. The house is very well equipped and well maintained. I would thoroughly recommend this house to both people with or without pets and we hope to return again. 08/03/2013 Cecilia Lanza. Brisbane.

    16 Santa Monica

We had the opportunity to stay at the Santa Monica house recently with our Cavoodle “Charlie”. Maureen was most helpful with the arrangements and the property was well presented.
The Pool was excellent and the property was extremely well fenced and private. Just a short walk to the shops and Coolum Beach, excellent location.
The house is well supplied and everything works very well. The flexibility of having your pet allowed inside is great and the floors are all tiled and vinyl making for easy maintenance.
Give it a try, you will enjoy it. Brian 16/02/2013 Brisbane

    Santa Monica Haven

Many thanks for providing an opportunity for my dog and I to enjoy a coastal holiday together. The off leash beach at Stumer’s Creek make the visit so worth while. Santa Monica had “old bones” but was very clean and secure. The remote gate and garage made it so easy to come and go. I would love to return in Summer to use the terrific pool. The pool surrounds provide a wonderful haven and was a great BBQ setting. We enjoyed a cuppa with the biscuits provided. You are very generous with the additional provisions, Maureen. These were greatly appreciated.

    Great family friendly holiday

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Malibu Luxury Beach House. Friends of ours from Glasgow were visiting and we wanted to show them a great time. The house accommodated 4 adults and 4 young children brilliantly. The rooms were spacious, and the children loved the trundle beds. Maureen was very helpful in accommodating a few of our extra needs- eg baby gate, portacot, and highchair were provided at our request. The solar heated pool was brilliant – particularly on the few rainy days we had- the kids were still keen for the pool, so the added heating made it possible to swim in comfort! The kitchen was well appointed, with the butlers’s pantry another thoughtful touch. Cheryl the lovely cleaning lady did a mid week clean for us at short notice and was super efficient . Coolum itself was fabulous, beach was amazing and the town was well serviced with a decent Coles, as well as a number of good cafes and restaurants. We all loved it and will be back in the future.

    Looking-out-to-sea

    Hi Maureen!

Well, we all had a fantastic, relaxing holiday at Coolum. The boys LOVED the off-leash beach, but as it was their first visit, they were a little overwhelmed by all the action! We decided to take them to the quiet still water at North Shore after that, where they could swim and run while mummy and daddy did some fishing.

Unfortunately we only got a few good pics of them both looking at the camera, so I’ve attached the best ones. D’Artagnan is the bigger one, and Riley is the smaller one.

Thanks for providing such a lovely house and pool – it meant the world to us to have the boys with us..we could completely relax. And thanks also for the speedy return of our deposit!

    Regards,
    Astrid and Peter

“When are we going back to stay at Coolum”?

    Arent-they-cut

Both Apu (husky) and Bos (border collie) absolutely loved the holiday at “Santa Monica”. Bos enjoyed barking along with all the dogs on the beach area. Apu’s favourite spot was in the mondo grass under the palms outside the pool fence, watching me on the floaty in the pool. They also loved the off leash dog beach where we spent most of out time. Both my housemate, David, and I really enjoyed it also. It was beautifully clean and well laid out house. I also loved the little things (like the packet of Tim Tams) I nearly cried when I had to say goodbye to the pool though.
